Meet Chef Muloo

A Journey Through Flavor, Creation, and Impact

Chef Muloo’s culinary journey began over 20 years ago in Kenya. Initially inspired by his father, an engineer at Telekom Kenya, he pursued plant maintenance engineering, graduating in 2001. However, he soon discovered that creating delicious meals was far more fulfilling than repairing machines. With encouragement from Milly, a family friend, he traded in his wrench for a whisk and transitioned into the culinary world, starting his career at Steers and Debonairs Pizza, where his passion for food blossomed.

After training at Utalii culinary College, Chef Muloo worked at renowned restaurants, including Nairobi Java House and Artcaffe amongst others. Under the mentorship of Chef Tobias Oloo, he refined his skills and embraced creativity, precision, and passion in the kitchen. Inspired by global culinary trends, local ingredients, and the joy of bringing people together through food, Chef Muloo continues to push the boundaries of culinary arts.

The COVID-19 pandemic led him to Dubai, where he worked for HeyChef as a private chef. Here, he noticed the impact of food and lifestyle changes on health, inspiring him to focus on healthy cooking. His engineering skills come in handy when operating equipment in the kitchen, adding another layer of expertise to his culinary practice.

In January 2024, Chef Muloo started CHEF MULOO PRIVATE CHEFS, providing exceptional culinary experiences with a team of experienced chefs and assistants. His strengths include grilling, creating sauces, dressings, salads, and fusing cuisines. Some of his favorite dishes are perfectly grilled steaks, fresh salads with homemade sauces, dressings, and innovative healthy fusion dishes.

Phylosophy

Chef Muloo’s philosophy is simple: “Cooking is like painting or writing a song. Just as there are only so many notes or colors, there are only so many flavors – it’s how you combine them that sets you apart.”

And the best part? I get to taste my decisions and know instantly if I’ve nailed it!

I have learned to find joy in every creation, whether it’s a fleeting experience or a cherished heirloom. I believe that the true reward lies in the process of creation and re-creation, rather than just the consumption of what the world offers. Active participation in this creative journey is not only our right but also our privilege.

Throughout my diverse career in the hospitality and food industry, I have been exposed to a variety of situations that have allowed me to explore new cooking styles and expand my knowledge.
